About the Department
The Associate Vice President for Campaign Operations & Major Gifts provides strategic leadership, planning, and execution oversight for all operational aspects of a comprehensive fundraising campaign. This role ensures the campaign’s success through strong infrastructure, data-driven decision-making, cross-functional coordination, and disciplined project management. The AVP partners closely with Vice President of Advancement, Advancement staff, institutional leadership, and external stakeholders to support campaign goals, timelines, and best practices.
Position Duties
Bachelor’s degree required with 8–10 years of progressive experience in advancement, development operations, or campaign management, preferably in higher education or nonprofit environments. Experience supporting comprehensive fundraising campaigns required. Strong analytical, organizational, project management, communication, and executive reporting skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, development officers, and volunteers. Must possess excellent customer service skills, strong ethical standards, and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Other Qualifications
Demonstrated major gifts fundraising experience, managing a portfolio and working with major advancement CRM systems such as Ellucian, Salesforce, and Blackbaud, along with a strong understanding of campaign counting standards and reporting frameworks. Candidates should demonstrate supervisory or team leadership experience and possess the ability to effectively work with boards, trustees, and high-level volunteer leaders. Must exhibit strong strategic thinking and operational execution skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment. Excellent relationship-building, collaboration, adaptability, attention to detail, and accountability are essential for success in this role.
