The City University Construction Fund (CUCF) is a New York State public benefit corporation that manages the $3 billion capital construction program for the design and construction of space required to support the educational mandate of the City University of New York (CUNY).

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist audit and investigative staff in conducting reviews of assigned organizational and functional activities by evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of management controls

  • Complete detailed audit steps as assigned as part of organizational and functional audit reviews

  • Test substantively, as directed, to determine if organizational units are performing their financial and operational control activities cost-effectively, in accordance with CUCF/FPCM, and unit business plans and objectives

  • Prepare work papers documenting test results, and with assistance, write formal audit comments that identify and quantify the impact on business operations

  • With assistance, report opportunities for improved efficiencies and controls to management and make appropriate recommendations

  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of audit work for the external auditors

  • Develop knowledge of and ability to apply appropriate auditing techniques, information systems, and accounting principles

  • Improve effective business communication skills, both written and oral

  • Demonstrate the characteristics of a professional, in both attitude and conduct

  • Prepare for and obtain professional and industry certifications

  • Apply effective use of time management skills

  • Review procedures performed in conjunction with monitoring the Consolidated Financial Statement (CFS) Audit conducted in accordance with Government Auditing Standards

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications and Core Competencies

  • BS(c) in Accounting/Finance or any related field. Working towards a professional designation, for example, CPA, CIA, CFE, and/or CISA

  • Effective communication of ideas, thoughts, and messages to internal and external contacts (clients, department management, and outside parties) by demonstrating good speaking and presentation skills, active listening, and strong writing is required

  • Intermediate PC computer and technical proficiency including, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook), intranet, and audit software

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills

Pay Range:

Minimum - Maximum: $17.50/hour
