Position Summary:

The Bartender position is required to prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, proving exceptional Guest service by making recommendations and taking orders, maintaining bar cleanliness and organization, managing inventory and supplies, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with alcohol laws and company policies. Key responsibilities include mixing drinks to recipes, checking IDs for legal drinking age, monitoring Guest intoxication, restocking supplies, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Responsibilities are performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures. This position will report directly to the Beverage Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting North Fork Mono Casinos' culture and demonstrating exemplary Service Standards.
  • Mix and serve a wide variety of drinks, including cocktails, wine, and beer according to established recipes.
  • Greet Guests, assess their needs and preferences, take orders, and provide recommendations for drinks and specials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and well-stocked bar area, including glassware, spirits, mixers and garnishes.
  • Monitor and manage bar inventory, assist with ordering supplies to ensure availability, and prevent shortages.
  • Process Guest payments in the POS (point of sale) system using cash and credit card, handling transactions accurately, balance cash at the end of shifts, and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Provide excellent service, address Guest concerns, maintain a professional and friendly demeanor, and strive to ensure a positive Guest experience.
  • Responsible for knowing the food menu when applicable, upselling and taking food orders, if assigned to an outlet that has food service.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, attentiveness, and a friendly and polished demeanor are vital for creating a positive experience.
  • Strong knowledge of cocktail preparation, mixology techniques and drink recipes, including an understanding of premium spirits, wine and beer.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for precise drink preparation and accurate order processing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, orders and Guest requests in a fast-paced environment and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, sanitation and food handling regulations, as well as commitment to verifying legal drinking age.
  • Being able to adapt to changing situations and handle unexpected issues with a positive attitude.
  • Work effectively with beverage/ FOH staff and other Team Members to ensure smooth service.
  • Ability to address Guest complaints and resolve issues effectively.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, including setting up the bar, performing inventory checks, and securing the premises.
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of bartending experience in an F&B hospitality environment -- i.e. full-service restaurant, bar, hotel or casino required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Commission, which includes passing a background investigation.
  • Current Food Handler certification and RBS certificate required or ability to acquire one (employer will provide upon hire).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Physical Requirements:

  • All work is performed on site in Madera, CA.
  • Requires manual dexterity to perform job related functions.
  • Ability to stand or walk for the duration of their shift.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods and carry trays of food and drinks is necessary.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Ability to work various shifts including days, evenings, weekends, graveyard and holidays.

Work Conditions:

Team Members will be in constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests. Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain secondhand smoke. Work may be performed in a confined area. Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Work may be scheduled at various hours, including working overtime, and during evening, weekends, and holidays. Work may entail trained chemical usage.
