The Department of Community Health is seeking qualified candidates for a Behavioral Health Specialist to work on the Rural Health Transformation project.  This position will work directly under the Director of Behavior and Member Services and be the lead on the Building Bridges Initiative.  This is a hybrid position that requires in-office and remote work with the approval of the supervisor.  The days and frequency in the office can change at any time during employment based on the business needs of the organization.  This position requires occasional statewide travel.  This is a grant funded position with no guarantee of future funding at the expiration of the current grants funds, currently five (5) years.

 


 

Position Duties


Under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Director this position will be lead on the Building Bridges Initiative that is part of the state’s Rural Health Transformation grant. Under periodic supervision from the Behavioral Health Manager, the Behavioral Health Specialist will work on special projects/tasks related to service delivery to members with Behavioral Health needs.

Responsibilities
•Serve as project lead for the Building Bridges initiative outlined in the Rural Health Transformation Program application, including project development and management, managing stakeholder communication and collaboration, serve as co-subject matter expert on behavioral health and primary care integration in a pediatric and/or school setting (school health center experience a plus)
•Serves as liaison for members needing mental health placement in out-of-state Psychiatric Rehabilitation Treatment Facilities (PRTF) or Neurological Facilities for stabilization. 
•Connects members and their families to mental health services in their community.
•Works collaboratively with sister agencies on discharge planning.
•Along with other MAP staff members, serve as a knowledgeable expert on Georgia Medicaid regulations for mental health services funded by Medicaid, providing technical assistance to providers and the general public.
•Serves as a policy expert, responding to inquiries promptly.
•Recruit providers for Behavioral Aides services throughout the state of Georgia. 
•Responsible for constituency services inquiries.
•Responds to providers’ inquiries.
•Works in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, including external partners.
•Possesses a working knowledge of roles and responsibilities of direct service providers performing therapeutic services.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of job-related experience; or Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of job-related experience or four (4) years of related professional experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Complnc Specialist 2 (RCP061) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require a certification or licensure. 

Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:
Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience;
•Strong background in School Behavioral Health Service Management and Delivery, Healthcare and Healthcare Integration, Public Health, or another health-related field
•Experience in behavioral health policy, programs and services with particular focus implementation of those in rural areas.
•Capacity for learning and becoming conversant in health information exchanges
•Knowledge and understanding of State, Federal, and CMS Policy and the ability to interpret those policies
•Experience with management information systems
•Display strong oral and written communication
•Demonstrated experience and ability to deliver superior customer service
•Experience in working across governmental divisions and departments
•Experience in writing and or updating policy
