Inova Cares for Women is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist II to join the team. This role is focused on women and children and will be full-time day shift from Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Behavioral Health Therapist II Job Responsibilities:
- Assesses and diagnoses mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department-specific evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals and needs. Integrates assessment using information related to cultural, clinical, ethnic, age and other factors into the plan of care.
- Provides a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan.
- Provides care management to ensure that the patient and family receive and are subsequently referred to appropriate healthcare and community resources to optimize treatment/intervention outcomes.
- When indicated by role, participates in inpatient and community psychoeducational programs, facilitates support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis and chronic or life-limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or Behavioral Healthrelated field.
- Experience: Two years of experience in mental health/substance use disorder treatment, psychoeducational programming including targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, and integrative therapies).
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association within 3 months of hire. Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months of hire.
- Licensure: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP).
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions to address a range of behavioral health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjustment disorders.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families.
- Integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care, to promote healing and resilience.
- Collaborate with medical professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, addressing both physical and mental health needs.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in behavioral health and trauma-informed care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress and treatment outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness about behavioral health issues and promote access to care.
- Build strong therapeutic alliances with patients, creating a safe and supportive environment for healing and growth.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to patients experiencing acute mental health challenges or emergencies.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) or equivalent in the state of Virginia.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience providing behavioral health services, preferably in a community health or primary care setting.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT and trauma-informed care.
- Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to develop effective treatment plans.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility and sensitivity in working with diverse populations.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing clinical demands and patient needs.
