SHIFT:  Full-Time, Days- Monday- Friday 8am-430pm

Location: Methodist Hospital

The Biorepository Research Assistant Assists with coordination of Biorepository operations to ensure quality specimens are acquired and processed in a timely manner. Communicates with researchers regarding their sample request. Processes samples according to investigator’s protocol. Coordinates biorepository operations with the assessment, operating rooms, surgical pathology lab, clinics and all other hospital/clinical areas. Performs processing procedures manually according to established SOPs. Responsible for pre-analytical processing including sorting, centrifugation, aliquoting, labeling and completing study required documentation. Responsible for shipping and storage of samples as required by study. Extracts data from source documents. Completes database entries. Keeps accurate records. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff for collection and distribution of specimens. 

  • High School Diploma/GED is required. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related science (medical technology, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology) is preferred. 
  • Requires effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Scientific training in a laboratory environment is preferred. 
  • Requires the ability to operate clinical laboratory instruments. 
  • Knowledge of human anatomy is preferred. 
  • Requires excellent proficiency in MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
