What You'll Do as a Public Safety Intelligence Analyst
• Under the direction of the Administrative Officer 3 within the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) Investigations Office, collects, analyzes & converts intelligence information gathered from diverse sources into actionable intelligence & provides real time information to BMV personnel engaged in on going investigations:
• Independently reviews & analyzes online & in person transactions sent from agency personnel, the public & other affected parties or agencies related to Ohio BMV credential fraud or vulnerabilities;
• Utilizes Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS), social media accounts, informational databases, spreadsheets, reports &/or other sources for monitoring & assessing the development of fraud or potential criminal activity;
• Researches & analyzes data trends in order to identify patterns of fraud or fraud vulnerability & suspect activity in support of BMV, law enforcement & public safety investigations;
• Coordinates research activities with other departmental units &/or outside agencies; Requests acquisition of needed data to complete a particular file, case, or subject.

OPTION 1:
36 mos. exp conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.
OPTION 2:
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in homeland security, political science, criminal justice, emergency management, public health, international affairs or related field;
AND 12 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT: If required, must obtain LEADS certification; must renew LEADS certification biannually. Additionally, some positions at Department of Public Safety must be able to obtain & maintain secret level federal security clearance.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May require some travel. Working hours will include nights, weekends and holidays, based on operational need.
Requires valid driver's license to operate state-owned vehicle or must be able to provide own transportation.
Background Check Information
A BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, may be required on all selected applicants.
A comparative analysis and/or drug-test may be a requirement of the hiring process.
