What you’ll do
-
Operate HDD locating and walk-over tracking equipment to guide the drill head along the designated bore path.

Communicate real-time pitch, depth, and roll data directly to the drill operator to make path corrections and maintain safe clearances.

Perform pre-bore utility line locating and site walkthroughs using electronic line detection equipment and utility maps to identify existing underground infrastructure.

Document all locate logs, bore paths, depth readings, and visual marks accurately.

Troubleshoot complex/difficult locates and assist in guiding bores around high-profile utilities and tight tolerances.

Potentially perform potholing/hand digging with light hand tools as required to expose utility cross-overs safely.

Respond promptly and courteously to excavation notices and maintain effective communication with crew members, utility representatives, and inspectors.

Work overtime, travel, and perform on-call/afterhours responsibilities as needed in all weather conditions.

What you’ll need

To be 18 years of age or older.

Authorization to work in the United States for this company.

High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.

A minimum of 1–2 years of directional drill locating (HDD) experience.

Proficiency with walk-over bore tracking electronics/receivers (e.g., Falcon, Subsite).

Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional) with an acceptable driving record
Physical abilities & exposures
-
Routinely: Work alone or with crews in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicles, squeeze, perform fine hand motions, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, and use electronic handheld receivers.

Occasionally: Use portable ladders, work in confined spaces, and climb stairs.
The wage range for Bore Drill Locator II is $21.00 - $28.00.
