About this role

BASIC FUNCTION:

Crane Pumps & Systems (CP&S) creates innovative pump solutions for the effective and efficient transport of wastewater. The Business Analyst will report directly to the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager while serving as a shared business intelligence and reporting resource across Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.  This entry‑level opportunity focuses on developing and maintaining BI reports, dashboards, and standard analytics that support decision‑making across the business unit. The role requires strong collaboration, the ability to balance competing priorities, and a passion for translating data into meaningful insights for diverse stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with the FP&A Manager to support data and reporting needs across all areas of the business
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance standardized BI reports and dashboards used by Sales, Finance, Operations, and Leadership
  • Act as a central analytics resource, partnering cross‑functionally to understand business questions and translate them into clear, actionable reporting
  • Collect, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency across enterprise reporting
  • Monitor business performance metrics including sales trends, product performance, customer metrics, and operational KPIs
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance materials, including visual dashboards, written summaries, and presentation‑ready insights
  • Support month-end close financial reporting through journal entries, sales analysis, and statistical reporting
  • Support ad‑hoc analysis requests while prioritizing workload in alignment with FP&A and broader business needs
  • Help define, document, and standardize KPIs, data definitions, and reporting logic to improve enterprise alignment
  • Identify opportunities to automate or improve reporting processes to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Document reporting processes and data sources to support transparency and knowledge sharing
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in business analysis, data analytics, finance or related focus (Co-op or internship experience may be included)
  • Knowledge: Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Skills/Abilities: Ability to communicate analytical insights clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of data literacy; Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests across functions; High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Collaborative, service‑oriented mindset with a desire to support business partners across the organization; Curiosity and motivation to continuously learn the business and improve analytical capabilities; Ability to respond with a strong sense of urgency and care to customer requests, inquiries, and problems
  • Education/Certification: BA or BS degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Analytics or related degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in Finance, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field preferred in a business or manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge: BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
  • Skills/Abilities: Strong business acumen and experience building business cases for investment; Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with ability to quickly build relationships with Senior level executives
  • Education/Certification: BA or BS in Finance Analytics
