Job Summary/Basic Function:

The purpose of the recruiter position is to recruit migrant and/or seasonal farmworkers and/or their immediate family members who are eligible for admission and enrollment at the university through the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP). The recruiter will assist participants with the University admission process and CAMP enrollment.

This will be an 11-month appointment (month off to be determined).

This position is not eligible for VISA Sponsorship.

This position is not eligible for a hybrid/remote work schedule.

Department Overview:

The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) assists students who are migratory or seasonal farmworkers (or children of such workers) enrolled in their first year of undergraduate studies at Boise State University. The program supports completion of the first year of studies. Services include counseling, tutoring, skills workshops, financial aid stipends, health services, and other supportive assistance to eligible students during their first year of college.

Level Scope:

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision-making. This level is typically focused on self-development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

Essential Functions:

● Establish contacts with students, high school counselors, Migrant Education personnel, and external agency contacts by providing written and oral presentations to create a potential pool of eligible applicants. Attends community/school events such as information fairs, agency meetings to provide program information. Develop and maintain a variety of materials such as brochures, letters, posters, and application forms. Ensure that all such materials created are disseminated throughout the recruitment area and are printed in English and Spanish, as needed. Implement a monitoring and follow-up system for all recruitment activities. Work hours may vary and will include evening and weekend work. The recruiter position will include travel throughout the recruitment area to establish outreach networks and meet with potential students. Give presentations and conduct student or family conversations in English or Spanish.
● It is the recruiter’s responsibility to recruit and enroll the specified number of applicants as directed in the CAMP grant application. Interview and assist potential participants in completing appropriate application forms for CAMP and the University. Ensure participants meet all eligibility requirements for CAMP and University admission. Establish a process for documenting eligibility (such as agricultural work verification, need, and post-secondary credit completion). Assist students with class registration during student orientation.
● Inform and assist students with the process of obtaining scholarships, grants, and other financial aid. Assist students with the FAFSA submission. Assist programs staff with the planning and implementation of orientation and retreat
● Attend and participate in staff meetings, training and conferences as requested by the Director. Maintain collaborative relationships with University departments such as Admissions, Financial Aid, Housing, New Student Programs, Testing Center, etc. Coordinate with CAMP staff to connect with incoming students at the New Student Orientation.
● Maintain accurate files and records. Provide documentation to verify student eligibility to participate in CAMP in accordance with U.S. Department of Education criteria for CAMP.
● Oversee social media activities (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and program outreach documents.
● Supervise student staff working on social media, outreach and event publicity, and program records pertaining to recruitment activities.
● Coordinate potential CAMP student visits to campus with community/school liaisons. Collaborate with University programming that intersects with the target population.
Provide general college preparation information to parents and family members of potential CAMP students. Respond to parent questions regarding the higher education experience.
● Maintain and revise program documentation for the Recruitment Plan Procedures as needed.
● Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Ability to maintain good public relations.
● Ability to maintain the confidentiality of student information.
● Possess good written and oral communication skills.
● Ability to communicate and coordinate with other university departments and outside agencies and organizations, particularly those serving migrant and seasonal farmworker populations.
● Ability to counsel and advise students so that they may be academically successful at Boise State University.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s Degree or relevant professional experience.
● Bilingual – read, write, and speak (English and Spanish).
● Must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree in a related field.
● 1-2 years of experience in similar outreach work with students.
● 1-2 years of experience working with farm working communities and/or first-generation students.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is $23.90 - $27.30 hourly and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
