Description of Job
About the Position
This position applies engineering theories, principles, and standards to the design and preparation of plans and specifications for highway projects. Ensures quality construction by supervising, inspecting, testing, and documenting the work on highway construction projects. Verifies that construction is compliant with the contract plans and specifications. Continues to develop under the guidance of a Professional Engineer to become a Professional Engineer, with work assignments of a progressively more complex nature requiring independent engineering judgment and design analysis.
Work Environment:
- Primarily Monday-Friday work hours
- Flexible schedule may be available
- Hybrid work schedule with combination of in-office and remote work
- Travel required during work hours
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
- Required to operate CDOT vehicles

Minimum Qualifications:
Current enrollment as an Engineer Intern by the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors
AND one (1) year of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
Current, valid licensure as a Professional Engineer from the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers, and Professional Land Surveyors will substitute for the enrollment as an Engineer Intern
Appropriate education in addition to that required for enrollment as an Engineer Intern will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

Condition of Employment
A current valid driver’s license is required for all Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) positions which require operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position.
