Description of Job
The position requires expertise in various computer packages including Excel, R and Tableau. Tableau requirements include maintaining and developing dashboards to meet the information needs of stakeholders. Requires advanced knowledge of and use of R to conduct analyses that address policy and research questions and has experience with tidyverse packages and R markdown. Works with toxicology laboratories to obtain results from blood and breath tests taken as evidence in DUI cases and requires the ability to work with forensic scientists to understand some of the intricacies of drug testing results.
Works with ORS personnel to acquire impaired driving citation and court outcome data. This data is then matched with results obtained from toxicology labs. Works with assessment data obtained from the Behavioral Health Administration that is matched with other data sets to determine prior impaired driving conduct, treatment needs, and demographic information.
Organizes and maintains the file repository on the department network, identifies potential technical and data quality problems, and manually corrects data that does not conform to the specified format. Develops and maintains documentation regarding lab and court system reporting requirements and imports data into R for data cleaning and analysis. The position utilizes Senzing software to merge court case filing data with toxicology datasets via probabilistic linking, and manually reviewing records. Ensures the data from forensic toxicology labs meets the statistical principles of integrity and validity. Analyzes these data and drafts reports in response to legislative mandates.
Recommends and implements sampling techniques, data management, analysis methods, including inferential data analyses, and, when necessary, organizes research activities in the field. Explores new data cleaning techniques to optimize efficiency of the process and investigate opportunities for data linkages to enhance the utility of impaired driving data in Colorado. May be responsible for program evaluations that include the collection and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data, and address a variety of criminal justice topics as directed in legislation or research contracts.
Writes reports and short briefs to fulfill the requirements of HB 17-1315 and other research needs as necessary. Delivers occasional presentations of the data to different audiences.
Reviews the published scientific literature as it relates to topics of interest, writes literature reviews and assists in writing research grant applications.
Negotiates to obtain data as an official representative of the ORS and DCJ from other criminal justice entities, including reviewing necessary data sharing agreements and maintaining cooperative relationships with data stewards.
Works closely with other members of the ORS research team and assists with other office projects including: reviewing data collection instruments, analysis plans and draft research reports, helping with data collection and contributing to group reports.

Seven (7) years ofprofessional experience in analytics, data processing, and creating comprehensive reports.
OR
Education and Experience:A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to seven (7) years.
