Position: Certificated School Nurse – District Office
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Lynden School District is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and highly motivated School Nurse to support and
coordinate health services. This position is responsible for collaborating with the district’s nursing staff, managing
health programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal health regulations, and supporting the health and
well-being of students and staff. School Nurse collaborates closely with school administrators, families, and
community health providers to promote a safe, healthy, and inclusive school environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Current Washington State Registered Nursing (RN) License
• Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certification in School Nursing
• Minimum of three years of nursing experience, preferably in a school or pediatric setting
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience supervising or mentoring staff
• Strong knowledge of public health practices, communicable disease prevention, and emergency response
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
• Ability to maintain accurate health records and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
• Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer applications
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This position involves assisting medically fragile students and students with special health care needs to
integrate safely and successfully into the school environment
• Available for all injuries and accidents on an on-call basis and maintains a record of same
• Dispenses medication when needed at school with signed consent from physician and parent
• Maintains Care Plans for special needs/fragile students
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• May require prolonged standing, sitting, walking, lifting
• Exposure to student-carried diseases, noise levels, and assisting students with health needs
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work Year: 2026-27 school year; 180 days plus 9 extended days; continuing position
FTE: 1.0
Starting Date: Approximately, August 17, 2026
Hours: 7 hours per day; 7:50 a.m.- 3:20 p.m.; Monday through Friday
Salary: Per negotiated LEA contract. The 2025-26 LEA pay range for 1.0 FTE is $ 69,031 - $136,249 dependent upon
degree, credits, and school district nursing experience.
Benefits: This position qualifies for healthcare benefits (medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, life
insurance, and disability insurance, retirement benefits, up to 12 days of sick leave, and up to three (3) days of
personal leave per school year. (Days of sick leave and personal leave are prorated based on employee start date.)
