Minimum Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program in
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
- Certification in surgical technology through Association of Surgical Technologists AST accreditation
- TriHealth will acknowledge certification from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) for Surgical Technologists hired before July 1, 2006
Job Overview:
Performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room. Performs similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs supply, equipment, environmental related tasks, and quality checks as required. Recognizes and reports problems appropriately. May report and follow through on equipment malfunctions. Performs stocking/cleaning requirements as needed or may notify supervisor. May monitor case carts & report missing supplies.
- Performs scrub duties according to hospital policy and procedure. Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology, instrumentation, surgery procedures, and equipment.
- Demonstrates the ability to provide a safe environment for patients consistent with the practice of aseptic technique, and the counting of sharps and instruments in the operative area.
- assists with patient flow activities and reports patient related information & tasks completed to RN.
- Anticipates and prioritizes tasks adjusting to changes with minimal help of explicit instructions.
