Position: District Wide Paraeducator Pool
This posting is for multiple paraeducator openings throughout the District. Please indicate your preferences in
the Fast Track application. Openings are for the following levels of Paraeducator:
Level 1 Instructional Para: Instructional Para Educators work under the direct supervision of certificated personnel.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: leading small groups; instructing students in the classroom; and assisting
with classroom preparation and other related tasks
Level 2 Specialized Para: Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: providing extended day learning programs;
testing students under the direction of a school psychologist or the administration of state-mandated tests such as the WIDA;
providing the English Learner (EL) program; translating written materials and interpreting oral communication
Level 3 High Impact Para: Para educators work under the direct supervision of certificated staff at the Pre School, Transitional
Kindergarten classrooms, or in ELRC programs at all grade levels. Responsibilities may include: assisting high needs students
with self-care tasks such as toileting, dressing, feeding, while encouraging them to learn to do these tasks independently;
working with students who have severe disabilities, multiple disabilities, significant behavior concerns and/or are physically
aggressive and who need continuous support throughout the day to be successful.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
 Must meet Washington State’s “highly qualified” requirements in one of the following ways:
o All newly hired Paraeducators will need a high school diploma or its equivalent and have completed two years of
college or earned an associate’s degree or higher. If you do not have two years of college, you must have passed the
ETS test for paraprofessionals with a qualifying score of 455 or another WA State approved assessment.
Documentation of each of these items is required at the time of hire.
o Ability and willingness to complete the State of Washington required Fundamental Course of Study for Paraeducators
and on-going professional development.
 Previous successful experience working with students in a school setting
 Experience supporting students with limited communication skills preferred
 Experience working with English Language Learners preferred
 Experience supporting the needs of students with disabilities and medical needs preferred
 Ability to work in small group setting
 Ability to engage and respond to students of a wide range of physical, social, cognitive and behavioral needs
 Experience providing academic assistance to students
 Effective communication skills, organization, and teamwork necessary
 Right Response/Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or equivalent training preferred

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work Year: 2026-2027 school year; continuing positions are available.
Hours: Positions are 180 days; 6 hours per day, Monday – Friday; Various positions are available across the District
Starting Date: 8/28/2026
Salary: Dependent on prior school district para educator experience and level of specific position offered.
Wage bands for the 25/26 school year were: Level 1: $23.54 - $29.49 per hour Level 2: $24.56 – 30.77 per hour
Level 3: $27.65 –34.65 per hour. 26/27 wages are subject to ratification of new LCEA contract.
Benefits: 6-hour per day positions qualify for healthcare benefits (medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, life
insurance, and disability insurance), retirement benefits, up to 12 days of sick leave, and up to three (3) days of personal
leave per school year. (Days of sick leave and personal leave are prorated based on employee start date.)
Affiliation: This is an LCEA represented position - Internal candidates with Lynden School District LCEA Paraeducator seniority
have priority and should express their interest via email to Suzie Graddon in Human Resources by 4:00 p.m. on July 27, 2026.
