Position Duties

This position supports the front office by helping visitors, callers, and program participants find the assistance they need.  As a Bilingual Clerk Typist 1, you will perform the following duties:


  • Bilingual Communication: Converse with Spanish and English speaking individuals who call or visit the office
  • Visitor Assistance: Greet visitors, answer calls, schedule appointments, and transfer calls to agency staff
  • Lobby Materials: Maintain and restock information and referral materials in the front lobby
  • Program Knowledge: Learn agency programs and understand state and federal eligibility rules
  • Service Referrals: Provide information and make referrals for agency services and related resources
  • Visitor Tracking: Maintain the sign in and sign out spreadsheet with all required details
  • Package Handling: Receive and process packages and mail from UPS, USPS, FedEx, and other carriers


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Employees who pass the Spanish proficiency exam may be able to receive an incentive of up to $1500 per year for using their bilingual skills.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • Possession of the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Other Requirements:

  • This position requires the selected candidate to be able to read, write, and speak in Spanish.  You may be contacted for a Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition, PA Office of Administration.  If contacted, you must pass the speaking evaluation in order to be deemed eligible for this position.  Your proficiency in reading and writing in Spanish must be demonstrated during the probationary period to achieve regular status in the position.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lebanon County.  If no eligible candidates who live within Lebanon County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
