Job Summary

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Michigan Medical School invites applications for a dry (unpaid), joint faculty appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology. This appointment is contingent upon and held in conjunction with an approved clinical staff appointment as a Dermatologist/Physician at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.

This faculty position is designed for an accomplished clinician committed to excellence in medical education, clinical service, and academic collaboration. The successful candidate will contribute substantially to the educational mission of the University of Michigan Department of Dermatology through the teaching and mentorship of learners across the continuum of medical education.

Required Qualifications*

Candidates must:

  • Hold an M.D. or equivalent medical degree.
  • Be board-certified or board-eligible in Dermatology.
  • Be eligible for and maintain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.
  • Hold or be eligible for an approved staff physician appointment at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring medical students and residents.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • Prior experience in resident and medical student education.
  • Demonstrated contributions to curriculum development, quality improvement, scholarly activity, or academic service.
  • Interest in advancing the missions of both the University of Michigan Medical School and the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

This is a non-salaried (dry), faculty appointment in the University of Michigan Medical School. Compensation, benefits, and clinical responsibilities are provided through the individual's appointment with the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, subject to applicable VA policies and procedures. Academic rank will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience and following review according to University of Michigan Medical School faculty appointment guidelines.
