About this role

We are searching for a Clinical Dietitian II.  Someone who will provide nutritional assessment of pediatric patients, care plan development and management of needs across the patient care continuum as well as provide education and special project support to the clinical nutrition staff and department.

Qualifications:

  • RD/RDN - Certification from Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Commission on Dietetic Registration required
  • LD - Licensed Dietitian Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation required
  • 4 years' experience in Nutrition as a registered dietitian required
  • 2 years' experience in pediatric nutrition preferred
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • CDCES - Cert Diab Care and Educ Spec Certification Board of Diabetes Care and Education
    • CCTD - Cert Clin Transplant Dietitian NATCO The Organization for Donation and Transplant Professionals
    • CEDS- Cert Eating Disorders Specialist International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals
    • CHES - Cert-Cert Health Education Spec National Commission for Health Education Credentialing
    • CNSC - Cert-Cert NTI Support CLIN National Board of Nutrition Support Certification
    • CSO - Cert-BC SPCLST Oncology NUTR Commission on Dietetic Registration
    • CSOWM BC Obese Weight Mgt 
    • CSP - Cert Spec in Pedi Nutrition Commission on Dietetic Registration
    • CSPCC Pedi Critical Care Nutri Commission on Dietetic Registration
    • CSR - Brd Cert Spec Renal Nutrition Commission on Dietetic Registration

Responsibilities:

  • Provides age-appropriate assessments and reassessments of all patients identified at nutrition risk to include malnutrition, weight management, diabetes management and education per established time frame/guidelines. 
  • Adapts nutrition plan to specific economic, social, cultural, and age-appropriate patient needs utilizing progressive problem-solving skills.
  • Assesses learning needs and readiness to learn for all patients/families. 
  • Identifies and provides education opportunities to staff /students that increase skills (nursing course lectures, dietetic intern lectures, medical student/resident training). 
  • Participates in the orientation of training of clinical nutrition staff to include oversight of pathways for key areas as well as critical competencies
  • Collaborates with other professionals to integrate and communicate nutrition principles that enhance patient outcomes. 
  • Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and care management meeting/huddles and interacts with the care team to coordinate the implementation of the nutrition care plan. 
  • Coordinates/transitions care across the continuum to include home care coordination of products and supplies. 
  • Implements and utilizes hospital approved hand off technique per policy to facilitate patient hand off to different care providers.
