Position Duties


While in this position, you are required to work at your assigned work location during your scheduled work times. Please note: Work arrangements are subject to change at any time.

The Client Care Aide (CNA) provides basic hands-on patient/resident care in a safe, clean, infection controlled environment by bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, skin care, range of motion, positioning, ambulating, transferring, toileting programs, feeding programs, transporting, performing basic assessments (vital signs, blood pressures, weights, etc.), and charting/documenting all of the above. This is a fully-operational position responsible for performing the full range of client aide tasks and problem-solving.  These positions detect information or problems by interviewing or investigating.  This position must possess a Colorado CNA certification, and the certification must remain in good standing.

Additionally, as a Client Care Aide (CNA) you can expect to:
  • Perform basic nursing care; bathing, feeding, dressing, transferring, ambulating, positioning, lifting, range of motion, toileting, skin care, etc.
  • Provide safety of residents and others by use of correct lifting techniques, monitoring the environment and Resident whereabouts/activities, use of safety devices such as lifts and enabler bars, etc.
  • Perform basic resident assessments such as weights, bowel and bladder incontinence, intake and outputs, vital signs, and record the same
  • Record hall sheet data each shift. Implements proper infection control practices via the use of standard precautions
  • Communicate with others to ensure proper resident care and work completion.  Keeps RN’s and LPNs informed of findings and changes in resident condition 
  • Maintain therapeutic milieu through appropriate interpersonal skill use, monitoring of environments, and assisting residents to maintain rooms and possessions
  • Maintain resident care and equipment, such as cleaning oxygen concentrators, filling portable oxygen tanks, maintaining/disinfecting tubs and showers, changing lift batteries, etc.
  • Transports residents for medical appointments, etc., in state vehicles when the need arises
  • Attends in-house and off-site educational training, cornerstone online training, and staff meetings to maintain current on techniques, policies, and adequate inter-shift communication
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Special Qualification:

  • Unrestricted and Valid CNA License OR working within 120 days after completion of a CNA Training program and be CPR certified, Vaccinations as required by State and facility.
Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
  • High school diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)

Substitutions:
  • Current, valid certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies will substitute for the high school diploma or GED

Conditions of Employment:
  • FULL BACKGROUND CHECK:  This position will have direct contact with vulnerable persons (as defined by C.R.S.27-90-111: "Direct contact" means providing face-to-face care, training, supervision, counseling, consultation, or medication assistance to vulnerable persons, regardless of the level of supervision of the department employee. "Direct contact" may include positions in which persons have access to or unsupervised time with clients or patients, including but not limited to maintenance personnel, housekeeping staff, kitchen staff, and security personnel.) 
    • Full background checks include:
      • CBI & FBI fingerprint check, Colorado Court Database check, Medicare Fraud Database, TRAILS Database check.
      • This position will also provide direct care to vulnerable adults requiring a CAPS check (as defined by C.R.S. 26-3.1-101, position provides services & support care to at-risk/vulnerable adults including case management, clergy, physical or mental health services, safety or welfare services)This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application (unless otherwise identified in the posting), and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.

  • Must possess a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License

  • May require on-call status, if needed, per the pay plan for this position
  • Shift Work: Weekends, Holidays, evenings, nights, and days

CDHS Selection Process Explanation
Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications. Be sure your application specifically addresses your qualifications, experience, work products, and accomplishments as they relate to the position and minimum requirements.
