Job Summary: The Accounting Intern will support the Accounting team within our Commissioning Services business by assisting with basic accounting and administrative tasks. This internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure to commissioning and construction accounting in a real-world environment while supporting the growing volume of project set-ups and administrative documentation. The role emphasizes organization, attention to detail, and learning the full accounting lifecycle from project set-up through closeout.
Responsibilities:
- Perform basic accounting data entry with a high level of accuracy
- Assist with project set-up processes in the ERP system, including initial data entry and document preparation
- Organize and maintain electronic project and accounting files to ensure completeness and accessibility
- Support month-end close preparation by gathering and organizing required backup documentation
- Assist the Accounting team with administrative tasks related to document control and record retention
- Review information for completeness and accuracy and flag discrepancies as needed
- Follow established accounting and documentation processes and internal controls
Learning Objectives & Internship Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
- Gain hands-on exposure to commissioning and construction accounting
- Understand the end-to-end flow of commissioning projects, from set-up to close
- Learn how accounting supports project operations and financial tracking
- Develop practical experience with the accounting lifecycle and month-end processes
- Learn how to set up and review projects and monitor progress within an ERP system
- Build strong organizational habits and attention to detail in a professional setting
Measures of Success
Success in this internship will be demonstrated by:
- Maintaining well-organized, complete, and up-to-date project and accounting files
- Completing data entry and administrative tasks with minimal errors
- Demonstrating attention to detail and follow-through
- Showing a clear understanding of project set-ups and the flow of accounting information from open to close
- Actively learning and applying feedback from the Accounting team
What This Role Supports

- Reducing the administrative burden of data entry and document controls
- Providing additional support for the increasing volume of project set-ups
- Allowing accounting Team Members to focus on higher-level analysis and review
- Creating a development opportunity for students interested in accounting within a commissioning and construction environment
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Interest in accounting operations, construction accounting, or commissioning services
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and document management tools
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes, including ERP software
Travel: Remote
Compensation & Benefits
The expected base salary range for this role is $22.00 - $25.00 USD per hour. This internship position is not eligible for participation in company benefit plans.
