THE POSITION

As a Community Corrections Center Director 2 with the Department of Corrections, you will guide important work that helps individuals rebuild their lives. This position offers the chance to lead staff, support reentry programs, and ensure safe and consistent operations. Your influence will help create stability, accountability, and hope for reentrants. This is a rewarding leadership role for someone who wants to strengthen both the center and the community.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees the full daily operation of the Philadelphia Community Corrections Center 2, including staff supervision, facility compliance, program direction, and emergency response. As a Community Corrections Center Director 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Leadership: Supervise employees, assign work, and guide performance across treatment, security, and administrative areas
  • Facility Oversight: Monitor building conditions, lease matters, and safety compliance while coordinating emergency response actions
  • Program Direction: Develop rules and expectations for reentrants and ensure access to services that support growth and accountability
  • Security Operations: Administer disciplinary processes, manage security functions, and ensure equipment and surveillance systems remain functional
  • Fiscal Management: Oversee operational spending, facility accounts, and proper use of Commonwealth property
  • Reporting Compliance: Ensure accurate completion of reports and enforce policies affecting administration, operations, and treatment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Community Corrections Center Director 1; or
  • Three years as a Corrections Counselor 2; or
  • Four years as a Corrections Officer 3; or
  • Two years as a Corrections Officer 4; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes four years of professional corrections security, counseling, or casework experience involving criminal offenders in a correctional facility.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required,

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.


This position is not subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding. 


You must be eligible for selection in accordance with merit system employment regulations.

Promotion Without Examination (PWOE): 

  • Class Restrictions for Promotion Without Examination Only - You must have or have held regular civil service status in one of the following classifications: 
    • Community Corrections Center Director 1
    • Corrections Counselor Supervisor
    • Corrections Counselor 2
    • Corrections Officer 3 
    • Corrections Unit Manager 
    • Parole Agent 2
    • Parole Supervisor
    • Parole Manager 1
    • We will also consider applications from current Commonwealth employees in pay scale group ST08 for which there is a logical occupational, functional, or career developmental relationship to this position. All applicants must meet the minimum experience and training requirements.
  • Employees who previously held regular civil service status in the job title of the position being filled are also eligible for promotion without examination.
  • The promotion without examination requirements are issued in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
  • Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher. 
  • Applicants must have a minimum of one year in the next lower classes by the posting closing date with no break in service.
