JOB SUMMARY
The Investigator II is responsible for independently conducting complex compliance, regulatory, ethics, and workplace investigations involving alleged violations of federal and state laws, organizational policies, Standards of Conduct, and regulatory requirements. This position serves as a trusted investigative resource to leadership by conducting thorough fact-finding, evaluating evidence, preparing comprehensive investigative reports, recommending corrective actions, and supporting organizational efforts to mitigate risk and promote a culture of integrity and accountability.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Bachelor's Degree in business or healthcare administration, nursing, regulatory compliance, consulting, project management, or related area
- Experience
3 years of professional experience in a healthcare-related field
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts at comprehension levels appropriate to target learner groups.
Has strong analytic abilities and demonstrates wise independent judgement, is detail-oriented, and is a strategic thinker.
- Licenses and Certifications
(CHC) CERTIFIED HEALTHCARE COMPLIANC - Have, or obtain within 12 months of hire, the Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) from the Compliance Certification Board.
Preferred
- Education
Master's Degree in a related field or
Juris Doctor highly preferred
- Experience
Background in investigations and training obtained with the state or federal agency is highly preferred.
JOB DUTIES
- Conducts complex assurance/effectiveness reviews of compliance activities in accordance with appropriate standards, metrics, established compliance plan(s), and prescribed University and departmental/unit/program policies.
- Assists in managing the Compliance Hotline, including the triage and management of cases and investigations.
- Assists in investigating and ensuring timely resolution of all reports of non-compliance involving members of the UT Southwestern community.
- In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Investigations, analyzes complaints, develops investigative plans, conducts fact-finding, reviews documents, conducts related research, prepares any related correspondence, and submits confidential reports containing investigative findings.
- Provides input to, and assists in, evaluating the effectiveness of compliance controls used by the reviewed department/unit/program, as well as compliance with all applicable university policies and procedures.
- Provides input to, and assists in, drafting compliance reports, including development of review findings and recommendations for specific remedial/corrective actions.
- Prepares work papers to support work performed, as well as findings and recommendations included in compliance reports. Maintains documentation of investigation files.
- Maintains effective working relationships with compliance personnel and external UTSW stakeholders to achieve objectives of assurance-related assignments.
- Provides input on compliance or internal audit-related standards, policies, and procedures, and their related activities to prevent, detect, identify, and mitigate illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
