Position Description

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Intern to join the Wattstopper team in Carlsbad, CA.

Work closely with product development teams in documentation activities for both new product design and sustaining engineering. Support, develop or update bills of material through an established change control process. Manage ongoing change requests and orders together with the team leads.

Experience: 0-1 yrs, Entry Level

Main Job Duties:

  • Perform technical tasks needed to support design teams in creation of new items and bills of material including but not limited to new mechanical products, sub-assemblies and/or components needed in the design of lighting control and shading products. Create documentation or modify existing documents as needed.
  • Maintenance of existing product documentation to support sustaining activities (design improvements, cost savings etc.). Support the engineering team members throughout the change process.
  • Assist in transitioning new products or changes to production by working with team members to track implementation of changes.
  • Review manufacturers or suppliers’ documentation for completeness and consistency with company guidelines.
  • Review and update existing documentation, bringing it into compliance with expected levels of quality.
  • Prepare configuration documents and maintain configuration management database.
  • Assist with audit preparations, findings and other data management tasks.
  • Assist in maintaining data quality, integrity and security of the CM database.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education: Pursuing a BS in an engineering or data science discipline.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills. Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) preferred. Familiarity with SQL and Database fundamentals preferred.
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information. Great attention to detail and ability to contribute openly with software and product development engineers and teams.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment. Fosters open communication and support an environment of innovation and creative change.
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Self-motivated and capable of working towards project deadlines with minimal supervision
