The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority is seeking a Consumer Marketing Specialist. The Consumer Marketing Specialist will be responsible for developing and coordinating ABC consumer engagement, outreach marketing strategies, and programs to grow retail sales, profits, and return to the Commonwealth. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating communication and promotional strategies and tactical plans. Specific responsibilities include overseeing, authoring, and sourcing relevant consumer-focused programs, content, concepts and offers to be distributed to consumers through multiple channels such as web, social media, email, digital and in-store. This position will work closely with Consumer Digital and Marketing Specialist, Retail Operations, Logistics, Digital/Web, Corporate Communications, and industry suppliers to promote sales while balancing requirements for responsible consumption.
Areas of Responsibility
Plan and develop a year-long marketing calendar to include themes, promotions and product selections.
Lead and manage the implementation of approved consumer engagement activities.
Monitors assigned operations to ensure program objectives are met and that
projects are conducted within approved timeframes, budgets and
appropriate legal and policy requirements
Collaborate with the digital/web teams to help implement the agency e-commerce strategies by providing knowledge and expertise in support for work plans& budgets
Develops and maintains effective relationships with suppliers
Works with suppliers to leverage supplier-generated content for ABC promotional purposes on an on-going timely basis in support of ABC objectives
Collaborate with agency and external work teams to provide knowledge and expertise in support for recommendations, work plans, budgets, etc.
Develop the communications and promotional plans to create consumer awareness and usage of the ABC website and e-commerce capabilities, when deemed appropriate.
Participates in VABC in-store promotional events and social content generation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or marketing research, communications or closely related field required.
Knowledge of integrated consumer marketing, branding, merchandising, market research techniques, promotions, social media, and strategic planning.
Experience formulating strategy, creating and implementing detailed, actionable plans and finding creative solutions when confronted with obstacles.
Experience developing and implementing retail consumer engagement programs.
Skill in using advanced software and data analytics packages
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in marketing or marketing research, communications or a closely related field.
