Position Description: 

We are currently recruiting for a Corporate Accountant, 
to apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare accurate, timely financial statements for Guardian’s corporate entities. The Corporate Accountant ensures that all schedules and reports accurately reflect financial activity and complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and internal control procedures.

This role supports organizational decision‑making by preparing and interpreting financial reports, monitoring compliance, and assisting with audits, tax reporting, and special accounting projects.

This position is primarily stationed at the Guardian Home Office in downtown Portland, however, remote work, full or part time, may be considered.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field 
  • One to two (1–2) years of related accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred 
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards 
  • Experience with general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups 
  • Experience with accounting software; Yardi preferred 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills 
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines


Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and post transactions to general ledger accounts
  • Analyze financial data related to assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses and prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports
  • Review, investigate, and resolve discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies in financial records and reports
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review
  • Monitor compliance with GAAP, internal accounting controls, and company policies
  • Distribute expenditures, receipts, receivables, and other transactions in accordance with established schedules
  • Assist with preparation of federal, state, and local tax reports and other regulatory filings
  • Support year-end close activities and assist with audit preparation and auditor requests
  • Analyze trends, variances, and financial results; prepare narrative explanations as needed
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and procedures
  • Make recommendations for improvements to accounting processes and controls
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by management
  • Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
