Corporate Intern (Information Security) Hybrid Schedule

Atlantic Union’s Summer Internship program is a professional development opportunity for local students to gain practical work experience, helping students become better prepared to enter into the financial industry post-graduation. Students have the ability to build professional networks, and receive training and mentoring throughout the program.

Atlantic Union’s Information Security Intern Program is designed to give college students an introduction into Information Security Operations. It is our intent to give the Intern real assignments.  Assignments that stretch the Intern, provide the Intern with valuable experience, and allow the Intern to contribute to the Information Security Department. 

Position Accountabilities

The Intern is provided assignments that include the major processes within the AUB Information Security Department. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in one or more of the following:

• Security Monitoring: Monitor, review and triage security alerts and log events (SIEM) for proper response.
• Threat Analysis: analyze phishing reports and threat intel emails to identify and response to potential threats.
• Vulnerability Management: Perform security scans on banking systems and assist in vulnerability assessment and analysis.
• Documentation & Procedures: Develop and update security policies, standards, playbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Projects & Reporting: Assist with security projects, including preparing dashboards and reports using tools like Excel or Power BI. Identify, design and collect metrics for the Information Security Program.

Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Atlantic Union Bank (AUB) Director of Security Operations and has a hybrid residency, with a minimum of two days onsite each week.

Position Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Position Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Currently working on degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Physics, Engineering or a related field,
• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university is required, and Students must be undergraduates entering their junior or senior year or currently pursuing a graduate level degree
• Must be available to work a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday
• Must submit a resume and cover letter highlighting accomplishments, professional and academic goals, and expectations of this internship position
• Submission of transcripts and two professional or academic references

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools
• Interest in cyber security and cyber threats
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
• Must be able to function well with indirect supervision
