About this role
This position is an entry level role in the corporate accounting function of a growing, employee-owned (ESOP) construction company. The Corporate Staff Accountant will work closely with the Corporate Accounting Manager on core accounting responsibilities and day-to-day accounting operations.
The ideal candidate is a strong team player with solid communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. We are looking for someone who fits well within a collaborative culture and is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a high‑performing accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly Accounting
Assist with monthly close activities, including preparation of balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
Support general ledger maintenance and basic journal entry preparation.
Help ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting.
Assist with payment processing, including vendor payments, coding transactions accurately, and other transactional accounting functions as needed.
Help maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
Payment Processing & Transactional Support
Assist with payment processing, including vendor payments.
Support accounts payable and other transactional accounting functions as needed.
Help code transactions accurately while maintaining the proper documentation consistent with internal SOP.
Special Projects & Operational Support
Contribute to special projects as assigned, including process improvements, system enhancements, and integration of new or acquired entities.
Partner with cross functional teams that would be assigned for various ad hoc projects.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
Accounting experience preferred; open to candidates with varying levels of experience .
Basic understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
Experience with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel preferred.
Construction or corporate accounting experience is a plus but not required.
