Position Overview: 

The Corporate Staff Accountant will report to the Manager of Financial Systems and Corporate Accounting. Primary responsibilities of the position include bank reconciliations, following up with team members on the resolution of reconciliation variances, recording payroll activity and other transactions, and maintaining and recording various accounting accruals. This role may also be responsible for all leases under ASC 842 accounting standards and assisting with fixed asset tasks according to company policy, as well as financial statement analysis. The Corporate Staff Accountant maintains compliance with Company policies and generally accepted accounting principles. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare assigned balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely resolution of reconciliation variances.
  • Prepare journal entries and provide them to the Accounting Manager or other Accountants for review and approval.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes to accurately record and report all financial transactions in a timely manner.
  • Prepare supporting schedules for year-end footnotes for external audit.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Potentially responsible for maintaining ASC842 lease accounting.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • 0 – 2 years of accounting work experience.
  • Lease accounting experience preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter, creative, hardworking, and thrives under limited supervision.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word. Ability to work with large volumes of data. Candidate will be required to take an online Excel skills evaluation.
  • Must possess strong accounting knowledge and commitment to accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized in work.
  • Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft Great Plains financial software a plus.
  • CPA preferred.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • This role requires regular in-person collaboration with team members at our Chicago Support Center.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. with little assistance
  • Must be able to work in restrictive spaces and maintain concentration in a busy environment with moderate to high noise levels
  • Must manage several tasks at one time and handle frequent interruptions to meet the needs and requests of customers.
