Corporate Vice President – General Office Chief Operating Officer
The Opportunity
Lead operations for one of New York Life's largest General Offices. As GO COO, you are the operational engine behind a high-performing agency—partnering with the Managing Partner and Zone COO to drive strategy execution, solve complex problems, and ensure the office runs at peak performance. This is a high-visibility role where your leadership directly impacts agent success, office growth, and business results.
What You'll Do
Operations & Strategy Execution
- Serve as the operational right hand to the Managing Partner—overseeing all office operations, facilities, and administrative functions across the GO and its satellite locations.
- Translate Agency Strategies and Zone directives into day-to-day execution, balancing Home Office requirements with local GO priorities.
- Spearhead key initiatives including real estate negotiations, budget management, and process optimization to drive operational excellence.
Agent Lifecycle & Performance Management
- Own the contracting process end-to-end—conducting Category I, II, and III reviews, troubleshooting onboarding issues, and ensuring consistency across recruiters.
- Monitor agent triggering requirements, licensing compliance, and Series 6/7 initiatives.
- Manage contract maintenance, retention alignment, TAS requests, and CAP waivers.
- Track recruiter performance programs, ADA targets, and performance trends—surfacing insights and risks to leadership proactively.
Financial Oversight & Compliance
- Oversee discretionary expenses, management and agent expense accounts, agency purchases, and vendor timesheets.
- Coordinate agent compensation programs including health benefits, expense allowances, persistency bonuses, Council/Year-End exceptions, and incentive tracking.
- Ensure alignment with compliance standards and Company procedures across all operational areas.
People & Communication
- Act as the first point of contact for office disputes, contracting issues, and administrative escalations—resolving conflict before it reaches the Zone or Home Office.
- Influence and drive action across cross-functional partners (Agency Management, Development, Compliance, Recruiting) without direct reporting authority.
- Support recruiter development through routine coaching, compensation reviews, and performance optimization.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in operations, ideally within an agency or insurance environment
- Strong knowledge of GO operations, contracting, compliance, and budgetary processes
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Conceptual thinker who solves complex, unique problems with innovative solutions
- Comfort navigating a matrixed environment with dual reporting to the Managing Partner and Zone COO
