This position is the Head Warden of Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. The Head Warden is responsible and accountable for planning, directing, implementing and coordinating the total institutional management of over 2,000 adult male inmates, the adult prison intake center, the mental health program, and over 600 prison staff.
Position Duties
Three years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above with direct-line supervisory responsibility over two or more subordinates:
Six years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following:
1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or
2. A bachelor's degree.
OR
A master's degree plus five years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; OR
A doctorate plus four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.
In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.

Job Duties:
As the Head Warden of the prison facility, you would be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Supervising the preparation and/or management of an annual operating budget of more than $55 Million for EHCC.
- Monitor and supervise staff effectiveness and work product.
- Assure proper policies and procedures are administratively followed.
- Work with law enforcement as a representative of EHCC.
- Implement and direct rehabilitative planning for approximately 2,000 inmates housed at EHCC, making rounds in all areas of the prison.
- Perform daily personal physical inspections of any area of the facility.
Expect to work with a variety of staff and adult inmates, and serve as the final administrative authority on all decision made at the Institutional level.

Appointment Type: Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)
- The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted, or may be required to accept a probational appointment.
