As a Corrections Construction Equipment Operator Instructor for the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township, you help lead real-world construction and maintenance projects. Position Duties
This position centers on supervising inmate crews and teaching the safe operation of heavy construction equipment. As a Corrections Construction Equipment Operator Instructor, you will maintain and guide an inmate work crew while providing classroom and hands-on instruction, along with ensuring security and proper work practices. As a Corrections Construction Equipment Operator Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Crew Supervision: Lead inmate work crews in construction, excavation, and maintenance tasks
- Equipment Instruction: Train inmates in safe and correct use of heavy machinery such as backhoes, loaders, and excavators
- Safety Oversight: Enforce all safety rules, tool procedures, and institutional policies
- Work Coordination: Plan, assign, and review work while monitoring progress and quality
- Equipment Care: Perform and teach basic preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
- Documentation Duties: Complete inmate instruction records, evaluations, time records, and payroll forms

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the operation of heavy equipment; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which includes one year of journeyman level work.
- You must be in possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
