Position Summary

Ensure accurate and timely completion of accounting responsibilities including, but not limited to, weekly production closings, inventory tracking and analysis, journal entry preparation, balance sheet account reconciliations, raw material inventory valuation, accounts payable, vendor claims management, and the cost accounting portion of the period-end close process.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure accurate accounting and reporting for the plant, including the cost of production and assessment of input and output costs of production, in collaboration with local plant management and corporate accounting.
  • Assist in monthly and annual inventories, including performing sample test counts and reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of plant operations costing data to the management team.
  • Generate and analyze reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and recommend improvement opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Provide reporting and tracking tools to the plant management team, including daily production output, supply and packaging variance analysis, yield variance analysis, and labor variance analysis. Gather and verify production reporting and investigate data discrepancies.
  • Oversee and ensure timely payment and processing of Accounts Payable for raw materials, if applicable to the specific location.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc analyses and reports.
  • Assist the Plant Controller in the annual budget process to ensure accurate completion and timely distribution to corporate reporting, including compiling historical data, preparing spreadsheets, and gathering standards changes and analysis for the upcoming budget year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or two (2) years of equivalent accounting experience

License/Certifications

  • N/A

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years of equivalent accounting experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

  • Ability to build professional relationships with accounting and cross-functional teams while fostering a collaborative environment
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and organize and prioritize work independently
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to review data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with proficiency in data analysis and pivot tables
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work within a matrix organization
  • Experience using SAP software programs

Environmental / Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in both office and plant environments with exposure to noise, equipment, and machinery

Physical Requirements

  • Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing
  • Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination for office machinery
  • Oral and auditory capacity sufficient for interpersonal and telephone communication
  • Noise levels range from normal office levels to loud
