Job Summary 

The Cost Accounting Supervisor Trainee is responsible for overseeing and leading the costing accounting coordinators within the department. This role involves managing the coordinators with day-to-day tasks, training (virtual & on-site), communication, and will be the go-to on 2nd shift. This position will not manage the coordinators’ times, including time off requests. 

 

Education:  

· Working towards a Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

 

Experience:  

· 0 – 2 years’ experience preferred; previous lead/supervisory experience a plus 

· Proficiency in costing software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word). 

· Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to guide, motivate, and support a team. 

· Strong analytical abilities, with experience in cost analysis. 

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with both internal teams and external stakeholders on 1st and 2nd shift. 

· Ability to think critically and solve complex problems related to costing and pricing. Be willing to ask why and pursue the most appropriate answer.

· Strong communicators as they will be the voice of 2nd shift to 1st shift management.

Key Responsibilities: 

· Manage and provide leadership to team Cost Accounting Coordinators, ensuring smooth operations and the timely completion of all costing activities. 

· Oversee the preparation and analysis of CosAccounting reports, i.e., yields, end of shift reports. 

· Coordinate with other departments such as operations, QA, and supply chain as needed. 

· Continuously assess and improve costing methodologies, ensuring compliance with industry best practices, cost-saving initiatives, and process efficiency. 

· Mentor team members, providing training and development opportunities to ensure the team’s growth and skill enhancement. 

 

 

Work Environment  

This job is carried out in a professional office setting and involves using standard office equipment like laptops, desk phones, and smartphones. Regular visits to production facilities may also be requiredDuring those visits, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and/or humid conditions.  The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold temperatures, and electrical shock and vibration risks.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate.  

 

Physical Demands  

Employees must be able to stand, walk, or sit; use their hands for tasks; reach with their arms; and communicate verbally. Occasional lifting or moving of objects is necessary, along with close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
