Position Duties
- Documents, maintains, and preserves required records and statistics as it pertains to departmental operations.
- Ensures compliance with any or all applicable laws, statutes, and regulations; policies, and may update staff or work group on applicable changes.
- Recommends and/or develops departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains and updates files.
- Manages special projects as directed.
- Stenographically records testimony of all court proceedings as requested by attorney(s) and/or the Court.
- Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the business as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
- TO APPLY, must have an Associate’s degree + three (3) full-time years of related work experience. -OR-
- TO APPLY, must have a High School Diploma or GED + five (5) full-time years of related work experience.
- TO APPLY, must have and maintain a current certification by the State of Texas as a certified shorthand reporter (CSR). A CSR License is issued by the Texas Supreme Court upon completion of Court Reporting School and testing by the Texas Court Reporters Certification Board. Must provide licensing agency and license number in "certificates and licensing" section of the application or be disqualified. If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment or licensure at On-boarding.
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
Other Qualifications
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, climb, stoop, lift, push and pull.
