high-intensity days. - You believe the kennel attendant, the assistant, the technician and the doctor all matter in delivering exceptional care (and you’ll back that up).
- Assist the veterinarians in advanced diagnostics: bloodwork, urinalyses, cytology, radiographs, ultrasound, etc.
- Prepare, monitor, and manage anesthesia and patient recovery, including vital sign interpretation and emergency responses
- Lead surgical patient prep and recover, maintain surgical tools and protocols, assist in dentistry and other specialty areas.
- Provide nursing care for inpatients: monitoring, fluid therapy, pain management, patient comfort, and documentation.
- Take a proactive role in client communication and education: discussing diagnostics, post-op care, medications, home plans.
- Maintain legally defensible medical records, ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., controlled drugs, OSHA, DEA where applicable).
- Act as a resource and mentor for assistants and kennel staff - share your knowledge, elevate the team.
- Participate actively in hospital development: quality-improvement, protocols, continuing education, and career growth.
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential in NC (or willing to obtain).
- Associate degree (or higher) in Veterinary Technology or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in a veterinary hospital environment preferred - especially in diagnostics, anesthesia, surgery, and inpatient care.
- Strong clinical judgement, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication skills - with doctors, team members, and clients.
- Comfortable lifting up to 40lbs, long periods on your feet, and adapting to physical demands of animal care.
- Eagerness to learn, specialize, and grow (e.g., dentistry, exotics, emergency/critical care, etc.).
