About this role
Nature of Work
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Division of Administrative Services (DAS), Justice and Community Services (JCS) section is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional for the Criminal Justice Specialist 2 role. This role operates within a fast-paced office environment and requires the ability to multitask.
Operating under general supervision, this position will be responsible for:
- One or more Federal or State Grant-In-Aid Programs to include coordination with committees and related workgroups.
- Assisting in the reviewing of sub-grant applications for completeness and accuracy.
- Reviewing of sub-grant goals and objectives for a form of measurement and evaluation.
- On and off-site reviewing of grant program activities.
- Provide technical assistance and training to sub-grantees as requested.
- Maintain current knowledge of State, Federal and Agency rules which govern the above-mentioned programs.
- Attend national and state workshops and training on the above-mentioned programs, and perform related tasks as required.
- Assess programs using evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness.
- Travel is involved, both in state and out of state for this position.
- Demonstrated mathematical strengths required for calculating cost allocations, estimating grant expenditures, and managing financial data.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or part-time equivalent paid professional experience in grants development or grants administration, planning, project administration, criminal justice, investigations, data analysis, statistics, research or mathematics.
OR
Substitution: Graduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience based on fifteen (15) semester hours for one (1) year of experience.
Other Information
Preference will be given to individuals who have completed a recognized level of service/case management training (LS/CMI).
PG: 15 $41,194 - $71,789
