CT Technologist (Casual) UPMC Muncy

UPMC Muncy is seeking a Casual CT Technologist to join our Imaging Services team. We will consider candidates at all levels of the CT Technologist Career Ladder, including CT Technologist, Advanced CT Technologist, and Multi-Skilled CT Technologist.

The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to work all shifts and be available to respond to on-call needs within 30 minutes of the facility.

Schedule:

  • Casual position
  • Guaranteed minimum of four (4) days per month
  • May work day, evening, and night shifts, including weekends and holidays

Weekend Requirement: 

  • Fill in shift

Holiday Requirement:

  • One (1) holiday per year

On-Call Requirement:

  • Yes, as needed

Position Summary

Performs computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. Applies independent judgment, critical thinking, and initiative while utilizing ionizing radiation and advanced imaging technology to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.

Responsibilities

  • Performs computed tomography procedures using established scan protocols, including contrast administration, with minimal supervision.
  • Utilizes complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data while adhering to departmental protocols.
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment to adjust imaging protocols and appropriately apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
  • Demonstrates proper venipuncture technique and safe operation of power injectors according to departmental and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Administers oral, rectal, and intravenous contrast media in accordance with physician orders and departmental policies. Assesses patients for contraindications and potential risk factors prior to administration.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills while interacting with patients, families, and colleagues. Promotes a culture of dignity, respect, teamwork, and compassionate care.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns to reduce anxiety and encourage cooperation.
  • Properly identifies patients using two patient identifiers and follows universal protocol standards. Reviews patient history and physician orders, applies appropriate departmental protocols, and documents patient information as required in the electronic medical record.
  • Ensures all exams are accurately coded and tracked through the Radiology Information System (RIS), transmitted to iSite for archiving and interpretation, and appropriately charged.

Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of accredited CNMT program. ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT registry within 6 months of hire date. CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primaryregistry is already obtained. CNMT graduates must obtain CNMT registry within 6months of hire date. 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT registry within 6 months of hire date. CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained.All CT Technologist working in NY facilities performing contrast media injection are required to have received certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and be Licensed through the New York State Department of Health.CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.If practicing under a temporary permit: cannot administer IV contrast or participate in contrast-enhanced CT requiring IV administration duties, must be under direct supervision of licensed radiologic technologist, must obtain ARRT certification within 180 days of permit issue date.  Temporary permits expire 180 days from date of issuance, or upon notice that license application denied, or ten days after notification of failure of licensing exam, whichever occurs first.
