DEPARTMENT: Family Haven

JOB SUMMARY: The Cultural Parenting Specialist works with parents, guardians, and youth to address challenges affecting family stability and youth success. This position provides culturally responsive support, advocacy, and case management services to reduce risk factors, strengthen family relationships, and promote positive outcomes. Responsibilities include helping youth develop coping skills, self-esteem, educational engagement, and life skills through cultural activities and supportive services. The specialist also connects families with community resources, assists with pre-filing and court-related services through the Tulalip Tribal Court and Ye-haw process, monitors cases, and supports individualized case plans. As part of the parent-led Youth in Need of Special Services (YINSS) program, the Cultural Parenting Specialist helps families navigate services and court processes while promoting youth well-being and success.

COMPENSATION:  $27.62

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Associates Degree in Human Services or related field * Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE

• Two (2) years of experience working with diverse cultures, specifically Native American youths, families and elders.
• One (1) year experience working with confidentiality.
• One (1) year of computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES

• WA State Driver’s License. (Personal Auto Insurance)
• Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulations. (Abstract Required)
• Completion of the Positive Indian Parenting program. *Will allow three (3) months to obtain.
• Completion of the Triple P program. *Will allow three (3) months to obtain.
• CPR/First Aid certificate. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain.
• 40 hours Advocate Core training. *Will allow six (6) months to obtain.
• HIPAA certification upon hire.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  This is a regular Full-time position.
