DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position helps maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment across the facility by performing a wide range of cleaning and sanitation tasks. It supports the health and comfort of residents through dependable and thorough daily work. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Deep Cleaning Tasks: Perform thorough cleaning of resident rooms, common areas, offices, nurse stations, and other facility spaces
- General Cleaning Duties: Carry out routine cleaning such as mopping, dusting, scrubbing, sweeping, and polishing surfaces and fixtures
- Restroom Sanitation: Clean and sanitize restrooms and refill supplies including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
- Waste and Recycling: Empty waste containers, dispose of trash properly, and handle recyclable and infectious waste according to procedures
- Supply Handling: Pick up, deliver, and restock cleaning supplies, and follow chemical mixing and safety instructions
- Environmental Safety: Report unsafe conditions, maintain safe work areas, and assist with snow removal and debris cleanup

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week)
- Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (2nd shift), rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirement:- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Ability to work full-time in Philadelphia County, Philadelphia
- Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices, or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing)
- Work experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital
- Work experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient or resident rooms or a dining room setting
- Work experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas
- Work experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
- Work experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
- Work experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors
- Custodial work experience in one of the following environments: activity or recreation room; bathroom, shower, or bathing room; cafeteria or dining room; entranceway, lobby, or common space; nursing station; patient or resident rooms; pharmacy; physical therapy rooms
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
