About the Department


LSU Shreveport is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Custodian 3 n the Facility Services department. This role is responsible for performing advanced custodial duties and may assist with training or guiding other custodial staff to ensure campus facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. We are looking for a dependable, hardworking individual with strong attention to detail and a commitment to supporting a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the campus community.

Position Duties

One year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

Job Duties:

CUSTODIAL/SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE 

  • Performs routine custodial tasks in assigned areas.  Performs custodial tasks requiring special safety training, including but not limited to biohazards or other in-house hazardous environments. 
  • Responsible for keys, equipment, and supplies for custodial work in a work unit. Notifies supervisor of building maintenance needs. Enters requested information into a work order system as needed.

SUPERVISORY

  • Serves as a lead custodian by providing training and guidance to lower-level custodians. Demonstrates correct procedures for custodial tasks. May serve as an assistant supervisor by making recommendations on scheduling, reviewing work or lower-level custodians, submitting supply orders, preparing work reports, etc. 
  • May provide input into performance evaluations of lower-level custodians. Signs for supply deliveries and ensures orders are correct.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • May perform minor building maintenance such as changing light bulbs and air filters. May be required to work outside normal business hours for various campus events. May perform other duties as assigned.
