DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The mission of the Fleet Management Department is to provide the City of Houston with the best value, fleet management services. To accomplish Fleet’s mission and our vision of being recognized as the best managed fleet in the country, we are actively seeking a Customer Service Representative I. The Customer Service Representative I is a Tier I position and can make an immediate impact and add value towards the achievement of these goals. The duties of the Customer Service Representative I include but is not limited to:
- Order, receive, stock, distribute, and complete inventory of surplus property for internal & external customers.
- Transport automotive parts to internal and external customers.
- Research, analyze, and resolve standard customer problems & inquiries by various forms of communication i.e. phone, email, in person, etc.
- Assist in the operation of "Just In Time" warehouse storage areas, receiving areas, or inventory controls and material management facility.
- Performs other duties as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or light lifting of materials of up to 50 pounds. There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. General office conditions. May require long periods of standing and walking.

Substitution: An Associate's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
