About the Department
Under general direction, supervises and trains Customer Service Representatives. Speak with taxpayers who have uncommon or complex tax and motor vehicle problems and arrive at an agreeable solution. Maintains operating programs and reports for the department.
Employees may be required to work at any of the Tax Office locations.

Position Duties
- Receives overflow incoming phone calls, chats and emails.
- Speaks with taxpayers with uncommon or complex problems or questions.
- Researches property tax information and answers questions on taxes due or paid, appraised value, tax rates, exemptions, property ownership, legal description, recording information, etc.
- Researches motor vehicle information and answers questions on registration and in-state or out-of-state title transfers, including fees.
- Answers questions about disabled placard and/or license plates as well as other special license plate applications.
- Directs citizens to entity attorneys, county, state, federal, and city government offices as necessary to meet their needs.
- Trains employees on email, chat, and telephone applications.
- Continuously monitors employee performance and makes adjustments to assigned duties as needed.
- Provides first level supervision of staff and evaluates subordinate performance.
- Schedule and lead team meetings as needed.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Four (4) years of Tax Office or related experience.
- At least one (1) year handling both motor vehicle and property tax transactions and six (6) months experience in a call center environment is preferred.
- Familiar with State Property Tax Code and Transportation Code.
- Knowledge of business letter writing, grammar and punctuation, and report preparation.
- Employees may be required to work at any of the Tax Office locations.
Other Qualifications
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to stand or sit frequently for long periods and wear a headset.
