INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIVISION 
Cyber Security Analyst Intern - 2 months
$20hr. 

MAIN FUNCTION 
The IT Cyber Security Analyst Intern is responsible for supporting the county’s security analysts in executing the security awareness, vulnerability management, and security information and event management programs for the Polk County Board of County Commissioners. The intern will leverage various tools to perform security awareness training, vulnerability management scanning, remediation tracking, and incident response.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

  • Monitor current information security threats, tactics, and procedures; investigate trends, alerts, and anomalous events
  • Analyze scan results, prepare reports, create remediation tracking lists
  • Support security badge system; maintain process for creating, modifying, and retiring of security badges
  • Support and leverage security information & event management (SIEM) tools
  • Utilize security tools to monitor and respond to security events
  • Create tickets for operations teams to remediate assessment/audit findings

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Will gain experience with:

  • Security awareness training program content & administration
  • Vulnerability management tools and methods
  • Endpoint detection & response tools
  • Technical writing and documentation
  • Security information & event management platforms

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Recent graduate or current enrollment at an accredited college or university, with a major or completed coursework in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related degree program.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by hire date.
  • Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of standard personal computer hardware, software and network equipment, including the ability to determine the problem, perform the repair, and resolve the issue.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment within this classification.
