Position Summary 

The Cybersecurity & Information Security Intern will support the team by assisting with monitoring, documenting, and improving the organization’s security posture. This role is ideal for a student interested in cybersecurity operations, risk management, security governance, and process improvement. The intern will contribute to creating clear, user-friendly documentation and security practices that support a safe, resilient, and well-protected technology environment across the organization.

Key Accountabilities 

  • Assist with security monitoring, including log review, alert triage, and threat identification.
  • Support vulnerability scanning and help track remediation efforts with IT and engineering teams.
  • Contribute to risk assessments for IT and operational technology (OT) environments.
  • Help maintain and update security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Participate in incident response activities, including documentation and evidence collection.
  • Assist with user access reviews and identity and access management tasks.
  • Conduct research on emerging cybersecurity threats affecting the organization.
  • Support security awareness initiatives, including training materials and phishing simulations.
  • Help document security configurations, network diagrams, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT, engineering, and business teams to support security initiatives and process improvements.

 

 

 

Required Education, Experience & Skills 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program (junior or senior preferred) in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity concepts such as network security, authentication, encryption, malware, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and basic networking concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills 

  • Coursework or hands-on experience with vulnerability management, SIEM tools, or incident response.
  • Basic scripting skills (PowerShell or Python) for automation or log analysis.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management concepts.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, or CIS Controls.
  • Exposure to operational technology (OT), industrial control systems (ICS), or SCADA security concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft security tools, VPN technologies, or endpoint protection platforms. (e.g., Defender, VPN Gateway, Azure, Palo Alto Global Protect, Sentinel One)
