The Summer Intern program provides college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives.  In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and employees. 

 

Job Summary:

This role will support the Commercial Data team by assisting with data analysis, exploratory analytics, and foundational data science activities that inform business decisionmaking. Working closely with experienced data scientists and analysts, the intern will gain handson exposure to real commercial use cases, learn core analytical and machine learning techniques. We are looking for a candidate who is detail-oriented, analytical, and excited to expand their knowledge and skills in data analysis, machine learning, and business intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Support data analysis initiatives by working with structured and unstructured datasets to help generate insights that inform commercial and strategic decisionmaking, under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Assist in the development, testing, and documentation of data science and analytics solutions, including exposure to basic machine learning and statistical techniques applied to real commercial use cases.
  • Develop strong analytical and problemsolving skills by exploring datasets, identifying patterns or anomalies, and asking thoughtful questions to better understand business problems.
  • Learn and apply foundational data science methods, such as regression, classification, clustering, or forecasting, with increasing independence as skills develop.
  • Help prepare clear outputs and visualizations (e.g., charts, dashboards, summaries) and practice communicating analytical findings to nontechnical audiences with support from experienced colleagues.
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement efforts by helping explore new data sources, tools, analytical techniques, and documenting learnings for the team.
  • Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, seeking feedback, developing technical and business acumen.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Proficiency in programming and analytical tools, including Python, SQL, and R. 
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning concepts, time series analysis, and algorithms.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, Pivot Tables, Data connections).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Tableau.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. 
  • Effective communication skills to present complex information clearly. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

 

Work Environment:

  • This is a paid internship opportunity.
  • The position is in-person with in-office work required at the San Ramon, CA HQ.

Experience:

     Not required, but prior Internship experience is a plus.

 

Education:

  • Enrollment in a degree program in Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • Minimum GPA requirement: 3.5.

 

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $23.50 and $34.25 per hour and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.​
