About this role
We’re looking for a curious, detail-oriented Data Analyst Intern to support our analytics team in turning data into clear, actionable insights. In this role, you’ll help collect, clean, analyze, and visualize data to inform business decisions. You’ll gain hands-on experience with real-world datasets, collaborate cross-functionally, and develop practical skills in analytics tools and methods.
Responsibilities
- Support the analytics team with data extraction and analysis using tools like SQL and spreadsheets
- Clean and validate datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Excel)
- Perform ad hoc analyses to answer business questions (e.g., trends, funnels, retention, forecasting support)
- Help define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics
- Document processes, assumptions, and definitions in a metrics glossary / data dictionary
- Communicate findings through clear visuals and concise summaries for non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate with teams such as Product, Marketing, Operations, Finance, or Engineering to understand data needs
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathmematices, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Data research and database management experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of Phyton, SQL, and/or Tableau
- Data visualization, cloud data tools, version control experience
The internship will run from June 1, 2026-August 14, 2026, up to 35 hours per week.
In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York City. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $20 per hour. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
