Data Engineer I

Overview The person in this position will primarily be responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and support of the company's advanced analytics that will help the company discover hidden information within vast amounts of data, enabling the business to make smarter decisions. This person will be responsible for coding extensions to the company's various BI platforms. This person will also be required to work closely with other Data Engineers and Data analysts assisting in the architecture and development of the data processes to feed data into and out of the data lake. This includes validating solutions to ensure data quality , performance optimized and integrity are maintained and ensuring the customer's expectations are met. This person needs to be able to understand core business needs and create technical solutions to solve challenges with direction from their supervisor. Responsibilities Responsible for the development of ETL code to integrate data into the data lake with direction from a technical lead. Develops and maintains knowledge of the customer's business needs as it relates to data Collaborates with the business process owners and the business community to define, understand and prioritize the demand for process and solution change toward optimizing value to the business and efficiency in BI delivery Work closely with Data Engineering Lead to estimate levels of effort for platform changes and work with the business community to set priorities Participate in gathering requirements; prepare requirements documents, functional and technical designs, test scenarios, deployment plans, etc. Manage all Data engineering production support tickets, resolve issues and maintain SLA and report progress to the business as requested Understand where data originates and how that data is used across most process areas May be required to perform other duties as assigned Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education: or B.S. degree in computer information systems, computer science or related field. Experience: 1+ years of experience in ETL coding tools, including Python or other GUI ETL tools like IICS, Matillion, AWS services , Claude , Chat GPT , CICD REQUIRED SKILLS Ability to develop, analyze, and modify processes, data structures, and models. Ability to create and maintain documentation, including requirements, design, and user manuals. Strong problem-solving and the ability to analyze business processes. Excellent listening, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Communication skills - Reads, writes, and speaks fluent English, using appropriate grammar, style, and vocabulary. Ability to work with and interview management, requestors, and subject matter experts to gather, identify, specify, and document complex business and functional requirements/problems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems. Unusually decisive and creative in handling difficult business problems. Ability to translate problems into practical solutions. Organizational ability - Demonstrates a systematic approach in carrying out assignments. Is process-oriented, very orderly, and excels at cutting through confusion and turning chaos into order Client service skills - Consistently provide the customer with attentive, courteous, and informative service. Quality Control - Checks new data and reports for errors. This includes errors related to data and presentation. Ability to be self-motivated, independent, and resourceful Ability to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment. This position requires the ability to manage the flow of data, perform analysis, generate summary reports, communicate by voice or data while being connected in the office, at home, or while traveling by laptop or mobile device regularly without regard to time zone or day of the week.
