This role will be based at our Denver, CO location.
Vantage Data Centers is looking for a motivated Data Scientist Intern to join our team, gaining hands-on experience across various facets of data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning, and data-driven decision support. This role provides hands-on exposure to real-world data science applications, including data analysis, basic predictive modeling, and visualization. The intern will collaborate with experienced data scientists and cross-functional partners to learn how data is used to support strategic, financial, and operational initiatives. This internship is ideal for students seeking to build a strong foundation in applied data science within a collaborative, business-focused environment.
Essential Job Functions
Analytics & Modeling Support:
- Assist with data analysis and exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights in business datasets.
- Support the development and testing of basic predictive and statistical models under the guidance of senior team members.
- Help translate analytical findings into clear summaries and visualizations for internal stakeholders.
- Learn how analytics are applied to support planning, forecasting, and operational decision-making.
Financial & Business Decision Support:
- Support analytical efforts related to financial and operational data, including data preparation and validation.
- Assist with scenario analysis and basic forecasting models to understand potential business outcomes.
- Collaborate with team members to understand how data-driven insights inform capital planning and strategic decisions.
Geospatial & Data Enrichment Exposure:
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of geospatial or location-based data used in market analysis and planning.
- Support the development or maintenance of simple dashboards or visualizations that incorporate geographic or spatial insights.
- Gain exposure to GIS tools and geospatial analytics workflows used by the team.
Technology & Tools Enablement:
- Work with data science and analytics tools to clean, transform, and analyze datasets.
- Assist in documenting analytical processes, data sources, and assumptions to support repeatable workflows.
- Learn how analytics solutions integrate with broader enterprise systems and reporting tools.
Collaboration & Learning:
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and cross-functional partners to support ongoing analytics initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Seek feedback and apply learnings to continuously improve technical and analytical skills.
Additional Duties:
- Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year university pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum GPA requirement – 3.0.
- Experience working with data through coursework, class projects, or personal projects is expected.
- Previous internship experience preferred but not required.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Ability to work independently on analytical tasks while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with data science tools and programming languages such as Python or R; exposure to SQL is a plus.
- Experience with common data analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, statsmodels) preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Additional Details
We will have 2 intern cohort timeframes to choose from: June 1st, 2026 - August 7th, 2026 and June 22nd, 2026 - August 28th, 2026
Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
