JOB TITLE: Day Yard Worker – Full-Time 

LOCATION:  San Diego, CA

HOURS:  1st Shift

COMPENSATION: $20-$22/ Hour 

TRAVEL: Minimal (1-10%)

Your daily impact:

As our next Yard Worker, you'll help keep our facility, fleet, and outdoor workspaces clean, organized, and ready for daily operations. In this role, you'll perform general yard maintenance, wash and prepare company vehicles, transport parts, and support the maintenance team by ensuring our yard remains safe, functional, and professional. Your work directly contributes to operational efficiency and helps maintain the appearance and reliability of the equipment that serves our customers every day.

The job responsibilities below outline the core duties and expectations of a position, providing clarity on how the role supports Company goals.   • Yard & Facility MaintenanceMaintain the cleanliness of the yard, parking lot, and surrounding outdoor areas by removing debris, sweeping, organizing materials, and ensuring the property remains safe and presentable.

  • Fleet Cleaning & AppearanceWash, clean, and detail both the interior and exterior of street sweepers, trucks, and other fleet vehicles to maintain a clean, professional appearance and prepare equipment for daily operations.

  • Parts & Material TransportSafely transport parts, supplies, and equipment throughout the facility and between designated locations using a company pickup truck or other approved vehicles.

  • Safety & ComplianceInspect work areas before beginning tasks, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow all company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Immediately report equipment issues, incidents, or safety concerns and accurately complete required logs and paperwork.

  • Adaptability & Reliability: Respond to changing operational needs, assist with additional yard or facility tasks as assigned, and maintain regular, dependable attendance.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Minimum job qualifications define the essential skills, experience, and abilities needed to succeed in the role. They set the baseline for hiring but may evolve as the job and business requirements change: 

  • Education: Ability to read  

  • Experience:Previous experience as a yard worker, laborer, porter, or in a similar outdoor maintenance role is preferred but not required.

  • License: Driver’s License  

  • Age: Must be at least 18 years of age 

  • Compliance: Must maintain an acceptable driving record and successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check, background check, and drug screening in accordance with Company policy and applicable law.

  • Safety & Compliance: Consistently follow safety procedures, conduct required inspections, operate equipment responsibly, and comply with all traffic, site, and regulatory requirements.

  • Communication & Accountability: Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors and team members, represent the Company appropriately, and promptly report equipment issues, incidents, or safety concerns. 

 

Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements outline the essential on-the-job demands needed to perform the role safely and effectively. 

  • Work Environment & Exposure: Frequent work outdoors with regular exposure to weather, changing temperatures, dust, debris, vehicle traffic, and moving equipment.

  • Physical Demands: Frequent standing and walking throughout the workday with occasional climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and lifting up to 40 lbs.

  • Cognitive & Sensory Requirements: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, maintain attention to detail, demonstrate situational awareness, and safely perform assigned tasks.

  • Equipment & Tools: Regular operation of company pickup trucks, pressure washers, cleaning equipment, hand tools, and other yard maintenance equipment.

  • Safety & Protective Gear: Required use of appropriate PPE, including high-visibility apparel, eye protection, gloves, hearing protection, work boots, and other protective equipment as required.
