The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) is seeking a detail-oriented professional to support the governance and ongoing administration of its Defined Contribution Plans. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and plan provisions, and for supporting the due diligence VRS must exercise in overseeing its service providers. The position also plays a key role in promoting operational continuity and efficiency by assisting with the use of Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Power Platform tools to document, streamline, and sustain Defined Contribution Plans processes, while providing informal tool support to team members.

Position-Specific Responsibilities Include but Not Limited To:

• Supports the development, documentation, and sustainability of Defined Contribution Plans outreach and operational processes, including the use of Microsoft Copilot and Power Automate.
• Assists with research projects as requested, including using Microsoft Copilot to summarize information, analyze meeting transcripts or employer feedback, and support reporting and documentation needs.
• Assists with building, updating, and maintaining basic to moderately complex Power Automate workflows used for tracking, notifications, approvals, and document routing related to DC Plans operations.
• Assists with documenting workflows, procedures, and job aids that describe operational processes, automation steps, and Copilot usage to support continuity and knowledge transfer.
• Identifies routine or manual processes and suggest practical, low risk efficiency improvements, including opportunities for limited automation using Microsoft 365 tools.
• Serves as an informal support resource for team members using Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate, and related Microsoft 365 tools.
• Assists with uploading and organizing DC Plans documentation and forms in imaging systems and SharePoint.
• Researches demographic changes and work with TPAs, internal customers, and employers to resolve issues of moderate complexity originating through phone inquiries, email, or call center referrals.
• Maintains working knowledge of defined contribution plans, including eligibility requirements for the various plans.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

One (1) year of finance, accounting or other relatable analytical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Considerations

Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Copilot and Power Automate, including creating, modifying, and supporting automated workflows. Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Bookings, Forms, Word, and Excel, and the ability to use these tools together as part of end to end business processes.

Special Instructions

The current hybrid work schedule for VRS is three days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and two days remote (Monday and Friday).  All employees are expected to be able to work in the office on any day required.
